Abstract
This article discusses the anonymous, late eighth century mass commentary Dominus vobiscum which was written to educate priests. It presents new findings about the text, its transmission throughout the Middle Ages and its manuscripts, and does so in order to emphasise the importance of anonymous texts for the study of Carolingian culture. Texts such as the Dominus vobiscum were at the heart of all efforts to educate clergy and people, and deserve more attention than they have thus far received.
