Abstract
The objectives for toponymic education of the various groups that work with toponyms (topographers, practical cartographers, map and atlas editors, staff from toponymics departments) are set out first. The various course models available are then inventorised: university lecture programmes, part of on the job training for toponymic operators and practical topographers, condensed courses and web courses. The programmes and contents of these education and training modes is sketched, culminating in the programme for the web course. Over the years a sizeable amount of teaching material has been developed, and this is listed here as well.
