Abstract
This chapter explores the intersection between three key terms and three distinct areas of research: children’s literature, translation, and postcolonialism. It focuses on defining these key terms, before considering the complex relationships between them. It first sketches the relationship between postcolonial studies and translation studies, before adding research on children’s literature to the theoretical mix. It engages, in turn, with the ways in which postcolonial lenses have been applied in studies of children’s literature, approaches to studying the role of translation in this framework, and the emergence of multilingual children’s books. It concludes by outlining important avenues for future research.
