Abstract

This book depicts a country with a prosperous population and a globalised economy, located along the Noordzee and situated on a European river delta bestowed with rich natural resources. The previous chapters provide an overview of differences within the Netherlands, between regions and between social groups, in terms of economy, demography, culture and social conditions; however, in
general social and spatial differences are rather moderate. Nevertheless, Dutch society is confronted with some challenges for its future.
