Abstract
The field of sustainable entrepreneurship has received considerable attention due to its potential to ameliorate grand challenges such as climate change and natural resource depletion. This rapid extension of knowledge in the field has necessitated a number of literature reviews in recent years, to guide its development. Consequently, there has been a call for contextualised studies of the sustainable entrepreneurship phenomenon in order to have a holistic understanding of how it occurs. The growing importance of context informed this particular study's election to focus on the nexus between sustainable entrepreneurship and context. This study aimed to catalogue how context has been problematised in sustainable entrepreneurship research to-date. It applies state-of-the-art techniques to collect and analyse 177 articles published in the English language, from the years 2006 to 2021. The study highlights both the nuanced and explicit role context has in sustainable entrepreneurship research, and how future studies can push this nexus forward.
