Success factors in inter- and transdisciplinary resarch: selected results from the program Urban Ecology

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterAcademicpeer-review

Abstract

This contribution describes results from an empirical analysis of the interdisciplinary collaborations in the consortia in the research programme Urban Ecology dealing with mobility, water issues and land use. It shows the expectations in inter and transdisciplinary research are high and studies the recommendations that scientists who take part in the programme make. One central conclusion is that interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research needs management to achieve thematic scope that fits the different disciplines, and concentration on jointly defined problems, different approaches to achieving integration and the need to pay special attention on how to deal with the diversity of partners.
