    Abstract

    In the 19e century's Netherlands there are many schoolbooks in 3, 4, 6, 9 foreign languages for the education of scholars. From 1863 are three modern languages compulsory at the secondary school. The education in the multilingualism has been the practice of many teachers in the Netherlands, with often the French language as reference. The school didactics is directed on the practice, the university's one, 'scientifically', is an historical & comparative approach based on the study of the classical languages.
