Abstract

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic and disabling condition that affects about 3% of the adult population1 and imposes a heavy burden on individuals and society. The implementation of successful strategies to assist patients in managing their condition and live a life worth living is, therefore, pivotal. Unfortunately, despite the progress in the understanding of FM over the last decades, its management remains challenging and, mostly, unsatisfactory for both patients and physicians. Additionally, patients frequently experience invalidation from their close relationships and even from health professionals,2 which adds considerably to their suffering.
