Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterAcademicpeer-review

Abstract

In this chapter, methods and techniques from the twelfth century will be explored, against the background of earlier centuries. With the birth of a new intellectual culture, so it has been argued, strategies were developed to facilitate a new type of reading. In this chapter, this will be illustrated, but also scrutinized from the perspective of earlier used practices, so as to analyse them in terms of tradition and innovation.
