Abstract
Using the estimated annual useful energy provided by an SPV pump and the efficiency of utilization of the diesel/electricity in the conventional pump, the annual saving of diesel/electricity has been estimated. Using respective emission factors of diesel and electricity the gross annual CO2 emissions mitigation by using a solar photovoltaic (SPV) pump has been estimated. The net amount of annual CO2 emissions mitigation potential is estimated by taking into account the life cycle CO2 emissions embodied in the SPV pump. The unit cost of CO2 emissions mitigation by using an SPV pump has been estimated as the ratio of the net annual cost of an SPV pump and its net annual mitigation potential. Breakeven analysis for an SPV pump to be a no regret option for CO2 emissions mitigation has also been undertaken. Sensitivity analysis of various input parameters on the unit cost of CO2 emissions mitigation has also been carried out.
