Abstract
A project undertaken by pupils of the senior boarding school at Esens in Lower Saxony investigates the
remains of pingos in the area around Esens and other places in East Frisia. There are considerable numbers of these
hollow landforms with no drainage outfl ow, which have been an integral part of the cultural landscape from the Stone
Age to the present day
