Abstract
The coastal region is a dynamic area and is very vulnerable to various coastal disaster risks. Central Java Province has a variety of potential hazards that can threaten the welfare of its people. Some of these include floods, landslides, earthquakes, drought, tidal floods, and subsidence. Natural processes and anthropogenic activities contribute to disasters in Indonesia. This book identifies the practice of disaster risk reduction in the coastal areas of Central Java Province, including Tegal Regency, Brebes Regency, Pekalongan Regency, Batang Regency, Semarang City, and Demak Regency. Each region has problems and challenges in carrying out efforts to reduce disaster risk based on mangrove ecosystems. We analyzed the perceptions, participation, and social capital of coastal communities.
