Abstract

The relationship is studied between the volume of osteocyte lacunae and the nuclear DNA content and level of ploidy in the genus Xenopus. The lacunac volume and the DNA content appear strongly correlated. The possible use of this relationship in the study of the evolution of the genus is discussed.
