Abstract

Hybrid transmission overhead lines are an attractive option for upgrading the power transfer capacity of an existing transmission corridor. With the circuits in close proximity, coupling phenomena arise during steady state and transient conditions. For the purpose of this paper, simulations were conducted on simplified and detailed models, replicating the hybrid overhead HVAC-HVDC transmission line and system respectively. The results and main conclusions of this study are presented below.
