Abstract

Sediments of two filled-in lakes (Terres Plaines, altitude 2100 m; Restefond, altitude 2400 m, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) from the intra-alpine part of the Southern French Alps were pollen-analytically investigated. The palynological data indicate that in a SW-exposed valley (Restefond) deglaciation at 2400 m altitude took place already before the Allerod interstadial, clearly earlier than in a N-exposed valley (Terres Plaines) at 2100 m. -from Authors
