Abstract
Revisit the early history of European integration by analysing interwar, wartime, and post- war documents aimed at recreating a political, economic, and moral order in Europe through looking at their use of specific emotional vocabularies of hope, fear, and responsibility. The purpose is to reconstruct how the pre-political or normative dimension(s) contained in these blueprints enabled or restricted post-war take-off of European integration.
