Abstract
The paper discusses government responses to covid and how various analytical angles can offer us insight. It discusses literature on the comparative analysis of responses to Covid, looking at the responses of various countries both on a practical and more conceptual level, and to the way that in the past six months ministers of culture have used their twitter account to discuss (or not discuss) the impact of covid on the cultural field. It concludes with a brief look at the most recent developments in the Netherlands, which show that the values attributed to the arts are very limited, thereby confirming the point that the arts and culture sector is low on the list of priorities of the government in the reopening strategy.
