Abstract

This study has investigated anammox, denitrification and nitrite oxidation in the OMZ of the Beguela upwelling system. Lipid biomarkers were applied to investigate the associated microorganisms and tracer experiments were conducted to investigate anammox and denitrification rates within the system.
