Abstract
This article is a preliminary study to the Spanish translation of the Vita Samsonis preserved in the manuscript known as Liber Landavensis, kept at the National Library of Wales under the signature 17110E. This text is the earliest insular attestation of the oldest life of a Welsh saint. Therefore the paper will be focused on Middle Welsh hagiography, the context of production of the tale under survey, on its material conditions and its distinctive character. All the changes introduced by the Welsh redactor will be examined, as well as the possible reasons that motivated these interventions. Furthermore, recent discussions about this text will be addressed. All in all, it is hoped to open a way to a textual corpus largely ignored in the Hispanic academic world.
