Abstract

This paper explores the transformative potential of literature, emphasizing
its ability to foster deep personal and social insights. Drawing on historical
and contemporary literary theories, it highlights the shift from text-centric
approaches to reader-focused perspectives, particularly transformative rea-
ding (TR). TR engages readers through dialogic interactions, reshaping per-
sonal meaning and enhancing empathy and self-awareness. Empirical studies
demonstrate its applications in education and professional contexts, with
programs showing improved motivation, social reflection, and relational
skills. The findings underscore literature’s capacity to connect readers to
themselves and others, advocating for expanded use in academic and wor-
kplace settings to promote social and individual growth.
