Abstract

The article tries to describe the music library of Louis Picquot (1804-1870), a 19th-century tax collector in Bar-le-Duc and Civray and music lover, the first biographer of Luigi Boccherini. It is only indirectly possible to reconstruct his library, from references in sales and auction catalogues and preserved copies. He possessed many autograph manuscripts with music by Boccherini, Gaetano Brunetti, Giuseppe Maria Cambini and others, apart from early printed editions of the work of numerous composers.
