Abstract
Grade 12 students vwo (pre university track) with mathematics A have learned the relation between the unit circle and a sine graph. Using paper with a circle, two orthogonal axis and a piece of rope (and preferably no grid lines), students were asked to construct a sine graph with the same scale as the unit circle. This was a good diagnostic task (or formative assessment) for students' conceptual understanding of this relation.
