Abstract
In the preface of her fifteen-thousand-couplet poetry collection, the Īnjūrīd princess, Jahān-Malik Khātūn (d. c. 1382) excused herself for writing poetry. This blog juxtaposes her act of writing with the mediaeval Iranian-Muslim gender norms, and introduces her as a pioneer of women’s transgression in Persian classical literature.
