Abstract

Tailoring health campaigns to the needs of specific groups (e.g., based on gender, age, ethnicity, culture), and in particular the more vulnerable ones, can help mitigate health disparities. This may require adjusting the source, the message, and the communication channels that are used. Insights from the PEN-3 model and from behavioral science present valuable resources to draw on. A key element to enhance the effectiveness of health campaigns concerns co-construction with the target audience.
