Abstract
Global income inequality can rise and fall at the same time depending on your focus and measure of inequality. Additional problems have to be solved before we can analyze global inequality using suitable measures. Historically, global inequality is now high, although it has been slightly falling recently because of rapid growth in China and India, reducing between‐country income inequality. Undue attention to top and bottom shares is unwarranted as these are bad inequality measures.
