Abstract

A description is given of the stratigraphy and the tectonics of the Spanish part of the Gavarnie nappe and and its underlying sediments near Bielsa. The outlines of the geological map coincide approximately with the frontier of the municipality of Bielsa. This study forms part of geological investigations carried out in the Spanish Western Pyrenees by members of the Geological Institute of the State University of Utrecht, Holland, under the direction of Prof. M.G. Rutten.
