Abstract

Invited presentation

Global Academic Teacher Education (GATE) is an initiative of the KU Leuven with sponsorship by VLIR UOS in which teacher educators from all around the world are coming together in Leuven for intensive discussions on the what and how of teacher education and more specifically teacher education with an academic and global orientation.
The first GATE week took place in 2018, the second in June 2023. The GATE statement is agreed upon and signed by more than 20 representatives and teacher educators worldwide and acts as an invitation for further exchange and debate. The GATE statement and the process leading up to the statement are presented. Participants are invited to critically comment on the GATE statement and its creation.

My presentation is a wrapping up of the training sessions of 9 different countries, with the central questions: 1. Would it be possible for me to be a teacher educator at your university / school? and 2. Could I take in some of your experience in my teaching?
