Abstract

Discusses the remarkable difference in impact on early modern Low Countries culture of two innovative genres first introduced in the Italian Renaissance: epic and pastoral. Explains this difference by studying such impact in various cultural expressions: translations, adaptations including theatrical ones, iconography, decorative arts.
