Abstract
The best way to reduce air pollution by public transport is to use only electric vehicles. However, at this moment this is not a cost-efficient solution. We will discuss environment-friendly vehicle scheduling using a fleet with multiple types of buses, where we focus on reducing air pollution on the global level and on ‘black spots’, for example city centres which are already heavily polluted. We also look for a balance between operational cost and pollution. We will illustrate this with a real-life case.
