Abstract
This project consisted on the hydrodynamic and shoreline evolution assessment under a demand from TRANSPETRO envisioning the expansion of Terminal Marítimo Almirante Barroso (TEBAR) at São Sebastião Channel, São Paulo State, Brazil. Figure 1 presents the channel location confined between Ilha Bela and São Sebastião, as well as the proposed pier extension. TEBAR is the oil and gas terminal from PETROBRAS, operated by TRANSPETRO. The current seaside structure consist of 1,300 meters of piled supported pier, ending on four berths for tankers – two at each side. The expansion will elongate 1,700 meters northward, creating two more berths. The study was conducted in four phases: (a) Characterization of the study area including geomorphology, and meteo-oceanographic background (b) wave modelling to assess the influence of different pier scenarios (c) hindcast of shoreline evolution based on GIS technics (d) shoreline evolution modelling to evaluate the possible effects of TEBAR pier at Ilha Bela coastline.
