Abstract

A survey of the DNA techniques is presented. The development of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has made the DNA technology accessible for routine testing. Any DNA fragment from which the sequence is available can be amplified in vitro. This offers wide perspectives for genetic and microbiological diagnosis, histocompatibility tests and the analysis of mutations in tumors. A number of methods to analyse gen defects in amplified DNA is discussed.
