Abstract

n this work we aim to study the diversity and distribution of haptophytes in environmental samples by using a gene encoding for an alkenone desaturase (Akd1) as a potential phylogenetic marker in order to compare it with the diversity of haptophytes obtained by 18S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, as well as to determine the content and diversity of long-chain alkenones involved in the paleotemperature proxy UK37’.
