Abstract

De opbouw van een actielotentiaal in een axon is een ingewikkeld proces van kleine ion-concentratieveranderingen in een dunne laag langs het celmembraan. Daarbij spelen verschillende ionkanalen een rol. Hoe ontstaat een actiepotentiaal en hoe wordt de rusttoestand hersteld? In dit artikel kijken we kritisch naar de uitleg hiervan in biologie- en biofysica-schoolboeken teneinde de afstemming tussen beide te optimaliseren.
