Abstract

This handbook has brought together original and current works by international scholars who have discussed multiple topics in diverse contexts of managing gender and diversity in sport organizations. Their work has revealed the conditions and circumstances under which women continue to be excluded from management positions, but also highlighted the positive impacts women bring to sport leadership. Many authors have expanded the notion of gender identity by focusing on how it intersects with other identities such as disability, sexuality, transgender, or race/ethnicity that then further define women’s positions in sport management. In this concluding chapter, we offer further suggestions of how an even broader variety of feminist theories, analyses, and concepts can encourage continued examinations and richer understandings of gender and diversity in sport management.
