Abstract

The three central elements of the dynamics of the urban political process are ideology, institutionalization and strategies. This book studies the interrelationship of these elements in the context of urban planning and introduces a number of theoretical ideas, particularly hegemonic projects and "structure'. The second part of the book illustrates the application of the theory using a 25 years case study in Oxford. Politics is shown to be not entirely dominated by structures: political outcomes rely on the strategies of individual actors. This book indicates how the individual can maximize their influence. -after Author
