Abstract
The main aim of the project is to develop and to implement a comprehensive operating procedure that allows to systematically prevent or at least reduce (possible) cases of child endangerment in six European countries (Austria, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland as an associated, non EU-member country).
This operating procedure comprises a binding collaborative network of multidisciplinary professionals. This network is expected to determine and direct responsibilities (e.g. contacts, case management, etc.) and adequate reactions in cases of (unsettled or reasonable) suspicion of child abuse and neglect with respect to protection and service provision (predominantly youth welfare and health care systems). Furthermore, the operating procedure includes an advanced training for professionals to improve knowledge and skills to identifying risk factors. The development of the latter training is based on the so called “Screening Tool for Child Endangerment Risk” for identifying indices of child abuse and neglect (Künster et al., 2013).
