Abstract

As the earlier book chapters testify, synchrotron radiation (SR)-based methods have proven a powerful asset in the characterizing of catalytic samples. The properties of SR such as its brightness (>1010 s/mrad2/mm2), its coherency covering a large swathe of the electromagnetic spectrum (>0.1–140,000 keV), the uniformity of the beam at the sample, coupled with the availability of high-performance detectors enabling the recording of high-quality data (with regard to resolution and signal-to-noise ratio) as a function of time (
