Abstract

The chapter addresses the relation between interdisciplinary breadth and disciplinary depth. Interdisciplinary breadth refers to the different perspectives on a topic or problem that are needed to be integrated when developing a course. The disciplinary perspective on a topic requires depth in methods and theories of the field. The case and commentaries integrated in this chapter show a relevant example of the challenges that integration implies when the lecturers have to balance between depth and breadth of the topics to be included in a course.
