Abstract
The EU is promoting a new approach in management to improve the conservation status of Natura 2000: a biogeographical approach. This is highly relevant as the current state of Natura 2000 is unfavourable and the approach is yielding promising preliminary results. This article assesses the potential advantages and disadvantages of the biogeographical approach with habitat type 6210 (Calcareous grasslands) as a case study.
