Paul Schlack Honorary Award

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

The jury appointed by Paul Schlack Foundation unanimously awarded the prize for joint research to Li Shen and her colleagues at Utrecht University, The Netherlands, for their work on the life cycle assessment of fibers. The jury considered it an outstanding example of collaboration between a university and a company. The study was published in 2008 and peer studies have since then confirmed its findings. The Paul Schlack Foundation was set up in 1998 in memory of Paul Schlack, the inventor of polyamide-6-fibers and one of the leading fiber scientists of the 20th century. The foundation encourages innovation in man-made fibers.
