The Dolomites in Italy and other well-known rock formations consist largely of the mineral dolomite. But for 200 years, scientists could not recreate dolomite in the lab to understand how it forms. Until yesterday! Yesterday a fascinating hashtag#publication came out in the journal hashtag#Science with an elegantly simple solution to the dolomite problem: alternating between growing and dissolving dolomite.
