Workshop: Music as Religious Practice: Text, Sound, and Emotion

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventWorkshop, seminar, courseAcademic

Description

The workshop is part of the research project “Materializing Religious Texts and Textual Practices’. The interdisciplinary project is situated in Religious Studies and Anthropology and uses a material religion approach to gain new insights in religious texts as both material objects and scriptural sources. We aim for a thorough reconceptualization of texts within the study of religion. As part of this project, Jip Lensink researches the role of song texts for the identity formation of Moluccan Christians in the Netherlands. Through the format of the workshop, we intend to bring together experts from different disciplines, who work on music, religion, text, and emotion. We hope to inspire and help each other, and to develop new insights together. The goal of the workshop is to exchange and discuss around several central themes from an interdisciplinary perspective.
