Women in Water Diplomacy Network in the South Caucasus Inception Workshop

On 26th and 27th April, I co-organised an inception workshop for the formation of the Women in Water Diplomacy Network in the South Caucasus in Tbilisi, Georgia. We were joined by women water experts from across the South Caucasus region, sharing knowledge and experiences as we work on developing the Network. No doubt there are challenges ahead, but the participation of each of these women has been invaluable. The workshop was a collaborative effort between Roisin Burke at SIM and the Montaigne Centre, supported by a NWO grant, USAID South Caucasus Regional Water Management Progam, and by experts from the Environmental Law Institute and IHE Delft Institue for Water Education. We look forward now to the next phase in the Network's journey. In doing so, the goal is to bring together, better support, and empower more and diverse women in water diplomacy in the region at intra-state and transboundary levels, including as an aspect of environmental peacebuilding.
