Description
Quaternary glaciology, glaciation and proglaciation in the North Sea Basin, in and around The Netherlands. This talk will be on the ice sheet margins of the Scandinavian and British Ice Sheets that repeatedly occupied the North and Centre of the North Sea Basin in the last 1 Ma. These events interacted with the substrate and the topography of this region, creating new hills and valleys. Flow of ice from various northerly sources, and of melt water underneath and in front of the ice sheets, were each important controlling factors on the geology and geomorphology of The Netherlands and surroundings, feeding quite dramatic palaeogeographical landscape evolution theories.Period | 9 May 2017 |
