Three Structual Pillars of the Future International Legally Binding Instrument (ILBI) for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity in Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (ABNJ)

Description

The joint presentation was made by Otto Spijkers, Catherine Blanchard and Wen Duan together and based on their joint-paper which assessed three structual pillars of the future ILBI for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity in ABNJ. During their joint presentation, Otto Spijkers talked about the first pillar, the relationship between the ILBI and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Catherine Blanchard assessed the second pillar, the relationship between the ILBI and the Convention on Biological Diversity. Wen Duan discussed the third pillar, the institutional arrangements of the future ILBI.
