Description
Many Dutch students lack the social safety with which to reflect on their own racial, ethnic, or cultural positioning in scholarship. The interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and Science bachelor program at Utrecht University (LAS) implements curricular interventions to connect (inter)disciplinary identity to cultural identity. This paper discusses how these interventions have increased sense of belonging among students within the program. It makes recommendations for liberal arts bachelor programs to use the intersection of cultures and disciplines to promote the diversity of both within an interdisciplinary curriculum.
