Description

Paper: The Toledo Choirbook ToleF 23 and the Alamire manuscripts. Abstract: Since its rediscovery in the late 1970s, Ms. 23 of the Toledo Cathedral has been consulted and used for modern editions by quite a few scholars. Although the choirbook has all characteristics of an important source, little attention has been paid to it since Robert Snow's work on it and the tentative identification of its scribe by Jacobijn Kiel. While the manuscript does show clear similarities to manuscripts from the Alamire atelier, there are also aspects that seem unique and deserve more attention. This paper tries to establish just how closely the Toledo manuscript is related the manuscripts of the Alamire scriptorium on the one side, and the choirbooks of Mary of Hungary on the other.
