Description
The United Nations (UN) has identified seventeen ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to promote health, end poverty, protect the planet to ensure that all people enjoy health, peace, prosperity, and safety. The first step to achieve these goals is to distinguish how close or far each country is to achieving them, through maps. Together, the United Nations and the International Cartographic Association produced a book titled, "Mapping for a Sustainable World," where they share best cartographic practices, conventions, and considerations for mapping the official SDG indicator data. In this talk Dr. Ricker will share ideas from this book with a special focus on thematic mapping, data collection and health.
