Description
Surgical anatomy of the pancreas in a right and left flank approach in sternalrecumbence and ventral approach in dorsal recumbence was studied in a canine cadaver. Feasibility of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy through a lateral flank approach in sternal recumbence was evaluated in four canine patients with insulinoma without evidence of metastasis on triple-phase CECT. A bipolar vessel sealer/divider facilitated tissue dissection. The laparoscopic approach and dissection of the insulinoma and distal pancreatic limb were successful and without unmet difficulties in all patients.
