Description
At Liberal Arts and Sciences, Utrecht University, undergraduate students are educated to learn interdisciplinary research by following a core curriculum of four courses. The interdisciplinary capstone is the final course where students are asked to do interdisciplinary research in teams. During the research, students with different majors collaborate to answer an interdisciplinary research question by following the interdisciplinary research process (adapted from Repko). The current research explores what guidance and supervision is required from teachers and tools to optimize the research output. As the interdisciplinary research process is complex and requires creativity and self-regulation from students at different points in time, it is found that students can benefit from an online tool for use throughout their research process. A learning tool is proposed that gives the students information during the different stages of doing research, that can aid communication within the research teams and between different research teams and that facilitates the integration in order to optimize the research output.Period | 9 Apr 2019 |
